OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH ADVISOR

 

Part-time, 20 hours per week

 

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Occupational Health Advisor to join us at our Lifton site. As an OH Advisor you will provide an effective and efficient service involving the full OH remit including absence management and referrals, rehabilitation, health surveillance including new starter medicals, audiometry, fitness for work and function tests. You will work closely with HR, Health & Safety and site managers to support them in monitoring and managing absence and accident investigations.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure OH work is consistent with evidence based and/or best practice OH guidelines at all times (with reference to Occupational Health and Safety policy and procedures)
  • OH activities to meet and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, human resources, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care
  • Assessment of individual’s health undertaken in a proper and timely fashion with feedback and recommendations to management as appropriate
  • Increase attendance levels for employees where necessary, or maintain attendance to a satisfactory level
  • Prevent and precaution against, and/or adequate control of, exposure to hazardous substances, noise, stress, environmental issues and manual handling risks to minimise negative health effects
  • Ensure site and senior managers are aware of relevant health issues and actions required via regular reports
  • Maintain data spreadsheets for statistical monitoring
  • Ensure record keeping and information provided complies with data protection principles and NMC guidelines
  • Identify emerging or new health issues early, ensuring proactive preventative measures are put in place
  • Ensure data gathering and recording information is appropriate, accurate and timely
  • Liaise with other Premier OH employees, external agencies and relevant authorities when necessary
  • Assist and cooperate with audits and remedial actions

 

What we need from you:

  • Registered nurse with valid NMC registration
  • Minimum 3 years experience in an Occupational Health setting, preferably experienced in a manufacturing industry
  • Competent knowledge of the causes of occupational diseases and ill health that arise in food production
  • Strategies of prevention of ill health and injuries that may occur
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of health issues that arise in food production and it’s associated work areas
